vLens

Explore, health-check, and export vCenter and ESXi inventory in a native macOS app inspired by RVTools.

vLens inventory table shown with built-in demo data

vLens brings vCenter and ESXi inventory into a native macOS workspace. Every VM, host, datastore, network, and license sits in sortable, searchable tables that you can export as CSV or XLSX. If you have used RVTools on Windows, the data will look familiar, without needing a Windows machine to run it.

What it does

  • Covers 29 tabs, including 25 of the 26 documented RVTools tabs; only the datastore file browser (vFileInfo) is left out.
  • Runs 21 vHealth checks with thresholds you can adjust in Preferences, and shows vSphere Tags and Custom Attributes.
  • Adds historical performance over a window you choose, point-in-time snapshots you can compare, and a one-page PDF report.
  • Flags critical and high VMware security advisories and ESXi/vCenter end-of-life dates; both checks can be turned off.
  • Ships a vlens-cli for headless snapshots and merged multi-vCenter exports, plus optional scheduled snapshots and in-app auto refresh.
  • Pins the server certificate on first connect, so a changed certificate is blocked rather than silently accepted.

Getting started

Download the signed and notarized DMG from GitHub Releases, open it, and connect to a vCenter or ESXi endpoint. Demo Mode fills every tab with sample data if you want to look around first. vLens has no telemetry and updates itself through Sparkle.
